AOS is located just in front of Shirakami-Sanchi, a UNESCO World Heritage.
Shirakami-Sanchi is a area of a virgin forest of beech which is registered
as World Heritage in 1993.

A world nature heritage site, Shirakami-Sanchi is wide mountain site which spread over Akita prefecture and Aomori prefecture. There are one of largest beech virgin forest and broad leaved deciduous trees as if a musium of trees.

Peaple in Futatsui and Fujisato think a great deal of great nature. Futatsui and Fujisato is a town where pure water from Shirakami-Sanchi become waterfall and river. Futatusi and Fujisato is a town of history and culture.

When you have a chance to visit AOS, please take a side trip to Shirakami-Sanchi.
There are three major route which you can spend wonderful time.
The first route is a way to Aomori by Train, Gonou line. Gonou line runs just beside the coastline, so you can enjoy the sceanery of the Sea of Japan. You can take a bullet train from Aomori.
The second route is a route to Oga peninsula by car. You can have great
time of sunset to the Sea of Japan.
The last route is a route to Towada lake by car. Towada lake is a beautiful
indigo blue late in Towada Hachimantai national park. There are also Okuirise
mountain torrent near from the lake.
